How to write a guest blog for We are Girls in Sport

We love spreading the word about different sports through our blogs here at We are Girls in Sport but we love it all the more when you ask to guest write a blog for us! There’s nothing better than reading about how much you love your sport, how you started and how it makes you feel and sharing it with our community. We know that these stories, your stories, have the power to inspire and motivate girls around the world to try a new activity which will benefit their physical and mental wellbeing.

Guest Blog Guidelines

If you’d like to write a guest blog for us, here are some guidelines. Please contact us first at hello@wearegirlsinsport.com to suggest your sport and tell us why you’d like to share your story with our community. We’d love to receive blog pitches from all over the world and the more whacky and wonderful the sport, the better!

When you’ve had the sign-off from us, here are some guidelines. You don’t have to stick to these but it would be good to include as much detail requested as possible.

Tell us about your sport

How is it played, what are the rules, what’s involved, what kit do you need?

Why and how did you start practising the activity that you’re writing about?

Did you start with a friend, did you see a family member doing it or did it just take your fancy?

How did you feel when you first started?

Were you nervous or were you raring to go? If readers feel the same as you did about trying something new, they’ll be encouraged to know that they’re not alone.

What have been the highlights for you?

It could be achieving a personal best (PB), being part of a team, learning new skills or winning competitions.

How does your sport make you feel now?

What would you say to a girl who is considering giving your sport, exercise or activity a go?

It would be great if your blog could be around 600-800 words long and we would love some high quality (or as good as you’ve got) images too - make sure you tell us who took them so that we can give them the credit.

And there you have it! We love sharing your stories so get in touch!
